MEB General Contractors is awarded Design/Build project at Defense Supply Center Richmond

Richmond - MEB General Contractors has begun the repair and renovation for the water distribution system at the Defense Supply Center Richmond (DSCR), including new connections to the Chesterfield County water main system. MEB is working with Chester’s Austin Brockenbrough & Associates, specialists in water system engineering, on this design/build project.

Scheduled for completion in May 2010, the project involves the replacement of approximately 71,875 lineal feet of existing water mains ranging in size from 6”-12”. MEB will also construct 60 valve house additions and 60 pre-cast H20 rated valve vaults for the installation of double check backflow preventers and two new water main connections to Chesterfield County. Additionally, the renovation includes replacement of 77 existing fire hydrants, demolition of eight existing fire pumps, installation of two new 4000 GPM fire pumps, and installation of new technology that controls the fire protection system to service the entire distribution network and facility.

The Defense Supply Center Richmond is the aviation supply and demand chain manager for the Defense Logistics Agency and serves within the Defense Department as the primary source of supply for more than 1.2 million repair parts and operating supply items.
